I can wholeheartedly empathize with your lack of natural athleticism. During my formative years, my athletic career too consisted of playing t-ball… but that is conjecture as I’ve been told I spent more time in the outfield watching the butterflies than participating in the game. In recent years, with a bevy of friends participating in half or full marathons, I’ve often been asked when I’ll join in on the “fun.” “Never,” was always my response until I found myself without a job during the warming months of spring. I started walking the Mount Vernon trail as there was no excuse for sulking inside on such nice days. I slowly started jogging – running implies some sort of purpose – and I was content with that. I soon found full-time employment and my jogging stopped, but wouldn’t mind getting back into it. It’s really all about getting out of that initial, stymieing mindset. Go Catherine!

I just recently made my Twitter public, and then spent 1+ hours going through deleting stuff that shouldn't be public. Do you remember back in the day when we used to tell the Internet our feelings? Oh, to be young again...

Barely-warm is the best time of year here! Other than that not-really-quibble, I am enjoying this music immensely. 'Tis indeed great for summer.

I love these illustrations. I also like that it doesn't buy into the obnoxious, Disney-ish "cuteness" that saturates most child-oriented products.

So I see the point that you're making, but I find it really relaxing to know I've taken care of my funeral already. I have $40k in life insurance right now that is explicitly for closing out my affairs and paying for funeral costs. I also have cancer insurance! Well, I will for at least another week, and then I suppose I should enjoy seizing the now (otherwise known as, not having insurance.)

This post has been on my mind for a week now, and I just have to say it falls under the category of "really?" The regular kiosk maps in malls have always worked fine for me. I will say the one feature that I would appreciate in an app is to be able to look up an interior store and know where to park to be near it. There is nothing worse than taking a guess and ending up at the wrong side.

Yes! Nice! The map at the mall in San Francisco tries way too hard to be "interactive" and has one of the worst user interfaces I've seen -- not unlike the Bart and MUNI systems there, which is extra frustrating because: hello! San Francisco! Home of the UI nerds! Where are they when we need them for something actually useful? In any case, it was absurdly hard to figure out where things were there, so there is definitely a need for this.
